Kelly D. Jordan Family Law Firm Welcomes Newest Associate, Melissa Richa

We are pleased to welcome our newest associate, Melissa Richa, to the Kelly D. Jordan Family Law team.
A graduate of the Queen’s University Faculty of Law, Melissa took a keen interest in family law during her studies. While in law school, Melissa worked at the Queen’s Family Law Clinic and the Queen’s Legal Aid Clinic, helping low-income residents and students in the community manage a wide range of legal concerns.
Since her call to the Bar in 2018, Melissa has focused exclusively on areas of family law.
Prior to joining the Kelly D. Jordan team, Melissa worked at another prominent family law firm in downtown Toronto. While there, she focused on family dispute resolution, obtaining many positive outcomes for her clients.
When dealing with important issues like child support, spousal support and property separation, Melissa collaborative processes, including negotiation and mediation. When necessary, she also advocates strongly for clients in courts, through court mediation, trials and arbitration.
We are delighted that Melissa will be bringing her passion for family law to the Kelly D. Jordan Family Law Firm.
Prior to law school at Queen’s, Melissa attended the University of Guelph where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Hispanic Studies. She draws on her studies in her work as a lawyer. Her understanding of human behaviour and emotions helps her guide clients through the emotions of their separation or divorce, while her expertise in family law helps them focus on their needs and desired legal outcomes.
A second generation Canadian born in Montreal, Melissa is fluent in French and Lebanese Arabic. She also speaks Spanish conversationally, and likes to take every opportunity she can to practice her languages. Her background also provides a deeper insight on how the family law system can impact clients from different cultures.
When she is not in the office, Melissa enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking and reading. She is a self-proclaimed foodie, and is slowly but surely making her way through all the restaurants the city has to offer.
